Comment/Description

This course provides basic knowledge of elastic continuum mechanics. It also includes a compact overview of vector and tensor algebra as tools for the representation of material theory, deformation geometry and stress analysis. Isotropy, anisotropy, material symmetries, elastic and supplementary energy, variational methods and special solution methods are discussed. Kirchhoff's plate theory is used as a practical application in structural mechanics.
